Another giveaway ! I'd love to try some new thread!

Well, I have finished 8 and 9. I can't remember which, but one of them just kicked my patootie! Seriously, I think I ripped out every single seam in it at least once. I was paper piecing it, and kept getting the colors backwards. And crooked. Luckily bowtie was a little easier! In the mean time, I decided to make a quilt to donate to my church to auction off at our annual fall dinner fundraiser. I'm using two Hoopla layer cakes from Moda. They are such fun, bright colors! Probably ones I would normally steer clear of, but they are definitely a blast to work with, and I hope people like the final product!

I finished block 8 this week! I am seriously thanking the person who did all the paperpiecing patterns! I might have mentioned that before... :) I have also been working on some clothes for my daughter. She's going off to kindergarten in three weeks, and I just had to make some clothes for her. My first day of kindergarten pictures show me in this adorable sweatshirt my mom made for me, with my name across the front and a whole farm scene embroidered on the back. I wish I knew where that was! Mom also brought back a coat that she made her sister years ago. Talk about a beautiful tailoring project! I enjoy sewing, but I fear I shall NEVER be in my mother's league when it comes to sewing. Especially clothing!

Okay, I've finished 1,2,3,5,6 and 7. Yes, I skipped four. The basket handle scares me a bit!!!

I'm going to have to put up the quilting for a week - it's time for Camp Grandma! I'm currently staying with Mom while my house is getting built, which means my place of residence is about to be overrun by kids. Nine of them, aged 10, 6, 6, 5, 4, 2, 1, 1 and baby. Not a good mix with small quilt pieces! I did make progress on the quilt, and now have four square completed and one nearly completed. I also finally got around to organizing the templates, rather than having them spread all over the dining room table!

So I'm pretty new to this blogging thing. So you'll have to forgive any blogging faux pas! But I've been following a number of quilting and crafting blogs, and there are several that are doing a quilt along, using the Farmer's Wife Sampler quilt book. I'm a farmer's daughter myself, and this project seemed to be just calling to me, so here goes! The quilt has 111 blocks, and the idea is to quilt 2 per week. I'm a bit behind getting started, but I'm trying to make up for it! I'll be using a fat quarter bundle from Moda, the Morris Tapestry line. I just love these fabrics; they are some of my absolute favorites, and I have been looking for the perfect project to use them with, and this just struck a chord. I'll try and figure out how to publish some pictures here shortly. I have my first four blocks done, blocks 1,2,4 and 5 in the book. (Block three has a curved appliqued piece, so it's making me a bit nervous!)
