Another Moda Bakeshop  finish!  I love how this one turned out.  It definitely too a while, and is by far the most complex pattern I've done, but I think there are so many possibilities with this one, and I hope that some people make this one and let me know what they've done.


So many stars!  My flying geese ruler definitely came in handy for cutting things out, and proper trimming was absolutely key to this one coming out properly.  All those flying geese - the extra time in trimming was definitely made up in having the squares all come together easily for the final assembly.


Mary, of Round the Bend quilting, fit me in on short notice, and did a great job of it.  A simple all over pattern, based on a small star shape and stippling, worked just perfectly.


I went with a poly batting, since I wanted something very white to keep the color for the background bright, and I love the loft it gave it too.


I had two people handy to do the quilt holding, and grabbed this shot just as the sun was going down. I ended up getting it on my iPhone, as I ended up taking my DSLR out there with no battery.  Even so, I think it might be one of my favorite quilt photos.   I'm not sure where this quilt will end up.  If I don't finish the one I have planned, I may donate it to be auctioned off for the fall dinner at church this fall.  A good finish, overall!

    The second I saw this it went straight to the top of my to do list!!! You mentioned how helpful your geese ruler was, I'm curious if you would tell me which one you use? Thanks!

    just gorgeous and I love star quilts. This is going on my 'to do' list and I may use 30's repros that I've been collecting - I think it will be awesome

    Just getting ready to make this gorgeous quilt and I'm slightly confused by the cutting directions for the solids: what does the small inserted '2' mean? For example, as in Cut one 3 in.2 piece. Shorthand for square perhaps. Thanks. Anne Marie

Pinwheel Charity Quilt - FINISHED!

The amazing Jo at Jo's Country Junction  does a ton of wonderful work doing long-arm for charity quilts.  After my friend, Natalie, and I purchased our long-arm, we both wanted to help do charity work, so I reached out to Jo to see if she needed some assistance.  She sent along five quilt tops, along with backings and bindings, and Natalie and I got to work! This first finish is a wonderful, happy, bright pinwheel quilt, made by Sharon Judkins of Hatfield, Arkansas.   (And special thanks to my 11 year old for photographing - she's working on photography for her 4-H projects, and wanted to help out in her own way!) Natalie did the long-arm work on this one.  Each pinwheel got it's own spiral, and there are spirals in all the sashing and borders.  Natalie made sure to get a pinwheel in cornerstone, as well. Another year of Quarantine

The vaccine is rolling, out, but OH SO SLOWLY.  And I'm about dead last on our priority list (as it probably should be - no complaints!) so I just need to keep on going.  I've felt the need for some slow stitching recently, which has done good things for the progress on a lot of old cross stitch UFO's.  I finished the Band Sampler that I did as a round robin a while ago.  It's beautiful, but with Mary Ellen gone I'll have to spend a LOT more than I used to to get it framed!   I've also completed "A Little Quakeresque" sampler - such a lovely project!  And my "12 Days of Christmas" piece is done as well, although I did have to order more floss.  I think it might end up as a pillow cover?  I can't think of a place to hang in during the holidays.    My piecing list is actually pretty under control for a change.  I decided to join in on a quilt along for "All the Good" and I absolutely LOVE how it's turned out.  It was part of a

Kate Spain Charm Swap Finish!

Quite a while ago, I participated in a Kate Spain Charm Swap over at Quilts from my Crayon Box .  I just loved the assortment I got back!  So colorful and bright, and so cheery to just have in a stack and pet.  But I decided to actually use them all.  I wanted a pattern that would really show off the variety of fabrics, and this one from Moda Bake Shop seemed to be a great fit.  I enlarged it to use up all the charms.  It's almost a complete charm quilt - I had to add in just a few duplicates to make enough squares.  I absolutely love the final result! The fabrics have such great variety I didn't really have to consciously do any fabric placement - they all looked good together! I used one of my favorites from terrain for the cornerstones and binding.  The quilter did a great job - outlined the stars and added a small flower to the center of each, with a moderately tight stipple throughout the rest.  I'm completely torn on what to do
