Weekly WIP

I made up this list prior to the weekend: 

 Weekend TO DO - in order of priority
  1. Finish piecing Frond Kit from Marc
  2. Binding for Marisa's baby quilt 
  3. Cut Frond quilt #2
  4. Piece top of Bitter Almond  
  5. Finish piecing Prism
  6. Cut strips for Four Square  
  7. Find or piece backings for everything that needs long-armed 
Also - hit up the sale at Fern Hill Gifts.  Alternate list with one long-arm row on Bev's quilt.  

 So how did I do?  Well, I finished piecing the Frond Kit, so that's being added to the ready-to-quilt list.  I got the binding added, so Marisa's baby quilt is finished!  I did finish the cutting for the new Frond quilt, as well, so that's ready to piece.  I finished Bitter Almond, and Layer Cake Quilt #2 as well. I didn't get 5 or 6 done, but I did start matching up the backings.

Sadly, the problem came with Bev's quilt.  It was going great for about five passes, and then something went wrong with the tension, and it's leaving intermittent loops all over the back.  I'm seriously ready to cry.  I can't decide if I should just take it off the frame and rip completely, or fix what I can with it on the frame.  There's barely any room on either side to test stitches to try and get the problem fixed, either.  So I keep looking at it, sighing heavily, and moving on to other things.
I did hit up the sale at Fern Hill Gifts, but focused mainly on getting 108 inch fabric for backs, and some background fabrics.  I feel like I should have had a better plan going on on what Frond fabrics I wanted, but I already have so many lined up I really can't justify it...

 A quick count shows TWELVE quilts in the to-be-quilted pile, plus one Mom has asked me to quilt.  Luckily this week the ice should melt and the temperatures warm up, so it will be easier to get out to the shop.  Daylight Savings always helps with that as well.  So I'll keep plugging away on Bev's, and hopefully get some others going soon.

Pinwheel Charity Quilt - FINISHED!

The amazing Jo at Jo's Country Junction  does a ton of wonderful work doing long-arm for charity quilts.  After my friend, Natalie, and I purchased our long-arm, we both wanted to help do charity work, so I reached out to Jo to see if she needed some assistance.  She sent along five quilt tops, along with backings and bindings, and Natalie and I got to work! This first finish is a wonderful, happy, bright pinwheel quilt, made by Sharon Judkins of Hatfield, Arkansas.   (And special thanks to my 11 year old for photographing - she's working on photography for her 4-H projects, and wanted to help out in her own way!) Natalie did the long-arm work on this one.  Each pinwheel got it's own spiral, and there are spirals in all the sashing and borders.  Natalie made sure to get a pinwheel in cornerstone, as well. It was bound in a lovely blue, with the ladies in our local quilt guild stepping up to do the actual binding work.  This one will be donated to Feed the

Kate Spain Charm Swap Finish!

Quite a while ago, I participated in a Kate Spain Charm Swap over at Quilts from my Crayon Box .  I just loved the assortment I got back!  So colorful and bright, and so cheery to just have in a stack and pet.  But I decided to actually use them all.  I wanted a pattern that would really show off the variety of fabrics, and this one from Moda Bake Shop seemed to be a great fit.  I enlarged it to use up all the charms.  It's almost a complete charm quilt - I had to add in just a few duplicates to make enough squares.  I absolutely love the final result! The fabrics have such great variety I didn't really have to consciously do any fabric placement - they all looked good together! I used one of my favorites from terrain for the cornerstones and binding.  The quilter did a great job - outlined the stars and added a small flower to the center of each, with a moderately tight stipple throughout the rest.  I'm completely torn on what to do

Another year of Quarantine

The vaccine is rolling, out, but OH SO SLOWLY.  And I'm about dead last on our priority list (as it probably should be - no complaints!) so I just need to keep on going.  I've felt the need for some slow stitching recently, which has done good things for the progress on a lot of old cross stitch UFO's.  I finished the Band Sampler that I did as a round robin a while ago.  It's beautiful, but with Mary Ellen gone I'll have to spend a LOT more than I used to to get it framed!   I've also completed "A Little Quakeresque" sampler - such a lovely project!  And my "12 Days of Christmas" piece is done as well, although I did have to order more floss.  I think it might end up as a pillow cover?  I can't think of a place to hang in during the holidays.    My piecing list is actually pretty under control for a change.  I decided to join in on a quilt along for "All the Good" and I absolutely LOVE how it's turned out.  It was part of a
