Finishes!

Image
I finished TWO, count'em, TWO quilts last night, in addition to the one I finished the night before!  Okay, so I'm just getting the binding sewn on, but I've been putting that off for ages.  So I'm getting things off the perpetual WIP pile.  Here's a quick shot of one of them. The pattern is Random Reflections, from the Moda Bakeshop site, and it's made with a Soul Blossoms jelly roll.  Just a quick indoor picture.  When I get a couple more bindings done, I'll take more of them outside and get some better pictures.

Finished!

And just in the nick of time!  Isadora's last day of school was today.  Her teacher has been fabulous this year, and Isadora has made incredible progress.  Her teacher was also kind enough to let me drop her off way before the buses get there, so I didn't have to worry about before school care.  Made life much easier!  So to say thank you, I made her a quilt out of the Petite Ecole line.  It was the free pattern, and it went together very quickly.  She seemed touched, so I'm calling it a win!  The pictures aren't much, as I had to take the picture after I finished it up at nine last night and before I wrapped it up to take to her.  Still, good to have another thing off the WIP list!

Something New!

I finally got to try the rhubarb liqueur!  Yummy stuff; found the recipe in Cooking Light .  I ended up waiting the full three weeks, but it never did turn quite as pink as the picture.  Probably because most of my rhubarb was on the green, rather than the pink/red side.  Very good just over some ice!

Craft Table Update!

The craft table finally made it from the garage to the craft room!  It's a long process when hubby is only home on the weekends, but it looks fabulous, and it will definitely be a great place to work!  It's a full 4x8 feet, so a great work surface!  I need to go get a work stool now, as it's higher than a regular table (no more sore back bending over to cut strips!).  But I'm excited to start working on it!

Working outside

Image
Not much time to work on my quilts this week!  Tuesday Isdaora had tae kwon do, where she got her orange belt!  She worked so hard on her form before the test, I was really proud of her!  Last night it was outside to plant some hostas.  My sister's mother-in-law (who is an absolutely wonderful woman whom we've completely adopted into the family) was great enough to give me some of her hostas, and I had to get the poor things into the ground.  I have no idea if they're going to live, but at least they're now in dirt!  Mom tells me hostas are hearty.  We shall see.  If they can survive me, then they are definitely hearty.

Quilting Photos

Image
So I went outside this weekend, attempting to finally take some photos of some of my quilts.  It was a beautiful sunny day, so I thought I'd give it a shot!  This is the very first quilt I ever made.  It got me totally hooked! The kids were "helping" with the photo shoot, so this is the best one I have of Gunner's baby quilt.  It's definitely the most used quilt we have! This is my favorite one! Notice Gunner at the bottom, he kept climbing up the ladder! I love them all lined up there.  Lots more photos I need to get done of other quilts!

Little projects

I've been working on some little projects for the kids, nothing major.  I recovered a stuffed chair I made.  I've been wanting to do that for a while.  On the first go-round, I neglected to prewash the fabric, and when I did wash it, it shrunk enough that it never did fit properly again!  So when I did it this time, exchanging the girl fabrics for colors more suited to my son's room, I made sure to wash and dry it thoroughly!  I used fabric leftover from a quilt, so it was nice to have a bit of my stash pile used up.  I also spent an hour or so making two flags for my daughter to hang on our playhouse.  She wanted a pirate flag, but for some reason I just don't like the whole skull and cross-bone thing.  And since she's determined that she would be the type of pirate to share her bounty, I convinced her that a heart would be a better symbol.  Not to mention much easier to cut out and applique!
